The pro-poor livelihood program attempts to reduce poverty by instituting self-managed micro-enterprises through a common-based zero interest credit assistance program of making barangay Caricaran, bacon an eco-tourism site by improving its beaches through the installation of street lights solicited from the provincial government.
The project involves the barangay residents who by their own initiative took charge of putting up a Bacon Beach watch manned by red-Cross operators volunteers who safeguard the swimmers. The Mayor organized the beach operators into an association tasked to take care of the cleanliness of the beach and to beatify the surroundings with the end in view of helping the people have better income through tourism.
The program plans to provide financial assistance amounting to Ph444, 000.00 to eight (8) peoples organization called Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran Association which in its entirely has 121 members. Five (5) NGO cooperatives also availed of the livelihood program with a total amount of P 325,000.00. It eradicated the culture of dole-out among the needy by empowering them become small-scale entrepreneurs striving to become self-sufficient.
